South Australia support
South Australian concessions, housing, school and health services have separate eligibility rules from federal payments and child support. Start with the help you need, then check the relevant service's evidence and conditions. Where a tenancy or incident happened can matter more than where you live now.

Concessions and household bills
The Concession Finder covers low-income households as well as eligible cards and payments. Not every concession requires the same card. The finder identifies possible assistance; it does not approve all the options it shows.
Check whose name is on the account and how changed income or household circumstances should be reported to the administering service.
Housing and homelessness
Homeless Connect SA is an entrypoint for families without safe housing or at risk of homelessness. Couch surfing, overcrowding, eviction risk and separation without a home can all be reasons to ask for help.
Public/community housing registration is a separate assessment with limited availability. Crisis accommodation, advice and an approved application do not guarantee an available long-term home.
Renting, bond and safety
Ask about bond and rent assistance before moving. Eligibility and payment depend on income, assets, the property and required documents. Paying costs or moving first can change which help is available.
RentRight SA provides independent advice across private, public and community rentals, rooming houses and residential parks. It does not itself allocate housing.
Domestic-abuse termination and crisis-accommodation termination are different processes. Use the appropriate notice and evidence requirements; leaving a shared property does not automatically remove every other tenant's liability.
Legal advice, protection and compensation
The Legal Services Commission offers legal information and advice, with a separate process for funded representation. Police or the court can issue interim intervention orders; the court decides ongoing conditions.
State-funded victims compensation has qualifying injury/loss and evidence rules. The official guide explains the lawyer's role. General property loss is not treated as compensation for injury, and an application does not promise immediate payment.
- If protection and parenting arrangements conflict, seek legal advice rather than assuming an order or informal agreement settles every issue.
School costs
School Card assists eligible families with school costs. Different forms address hardship or changed circumstances, self-employment, migration and care arrangements. An ordinary income test may use an earlier income period rather than today's income.
Ask the school which form fits your circumstances. Non-government schools decide their own relief, so do not assume the same assistance applies everywhere.
Dental, mental health and child development
Ordinary adult public dental access generally requires an eligible card in the adult's own name. Children have a separate registration pathway that does not depend solely on Child Dental Benefits Schedule eligibility. Co-payments, exemptions and waiting lists can apply.
Child health and development checks connect families with CaFHS and other approved providers. The SA Health referral guide explains mental-health triage and community services; assessment is different from a guaranteed appointment.
Specialist patient travel
PATS assists qualifying travel and accommodation for specialist treatment. Treatment-specific distance, referral and approval rules apply. Check the current guidelines, escort approval and expenses before booking; the scheme does not reimburse every cost.
