My income or work has changed

Check reporting, estimates, childcare and hardship help when earnings or employment change.

  1. Update the right income information

Centrelink earnings reporting and your annual family-assistance estimate are different. Check what needs updating rather than assuming a single report covers everything.

Read the guide: Report changes to payments and services
  2. Ask about child-support income changes

A child-support estimate or assessment change has its own rules and effective dates. Ask the agency about your actual circumstances.

Read the guide: Child support for receiving and paying parents
  3. Review family assistance and childcare costs

Check FTB and CCS estimates, fees and balancing. Subsidised hours do not mean care is free or a place is guaranteed.

Read the guide: Child-care costs and subsidies
  4. Check work, study and caring options

Employment rights depend on coverage. Parent Pathways is a separate voluntary service for eligible parents; it is not a general exemption from other obligations.

Read the guide: Work, study and caring responsibilities
  5. Ask for hardship help early

Contact creditors about hardship and get free financial counselling. A loan still needs repayment; avoid treating it as extra income.
